Field Service Engineer, Scotland

Maintaining and repairing VR-series beds and pumps at hospitals between Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling.

The role

You will carry out planned maintenance, repairs and installations of VR-series beds and surfaces at about 14 hospitals, working from home and visiting Morley for training and team days. Most days are spent at one or two hospitals; occasional overnight stays are needed for work in the Highlands.

You will join the Scotland and North East team of five engineers and take part in the on-call rota, about one week in six.

About you

  • An HNC or equivalent in electrical or electronic engineering, or a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Experience of maintaining electromechanical equipment, ideally medical equipment.
  • A full UK driving licence held for at least two years.
  • Confidence talking to ward staff and clinical engineers, and writing clear service reports.

Your first weeks

New engineers spend two weeks at Morley before starting in their territory, followed by four weeks working alongside an experienced colleague. An example of the induction programme is attached: Field service engineer induction programme PDF, 26 KB, 2 pages.
