VR-H2 hybrid mattress
Foam mattress with air cells beneath that can be powered when the patient’s risk rises, without changing the mattress.
- Patients at risk
- High risk
- Cells
- 18, static or alternating
- Patient weight
- Up to 230 kg
Overview
The VR-H2 works as a static foam mattress until it is needed as an active one. A 75 mm layer of shaped foam sits over 18 air cells. Without a pump the cells act as a static air layer; when the VR-A4 pump is connected they alternate.
Wards can buy one mattress for every bed and keep a smaller number of pumps for patients whose risk rises, with no need to move the patient onto a new mattress.
Static without power
Self-adjusting static air cells under the foam; no pump needed.
Active with the pump
Connect the VR-A4 pump and the cells alternate on a ten-minute cycle.
Heel zone
The last four cells are set lower to reduce pressure on the heels.

Service
Covers should be inspected at every cleaning for tears, stains that will not clean and fluid under the cover. A mattress whose foam or cells are stained must be taken out of use.
Replacement covers, cells and pumps are on the spare parts page. For cleaning, see decontamination.
